Dr. Abel Rivero MD is a celebrated, board-certified cardiologist who has been awarded the prestigious USF Fellow of the Year Award (2010-2011).
In addition, many other honors. His areas of expertise include Cardiovascular Diseases, Internal Medicine, Interventional Cardiology, Adult Echocardiography, and Nuclear Cardiology.
A highly qualified heart physician, Dr. Rivero went to medical school at Central America Health Sciences University. He completed his Internship in Internal Medicine at the UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. He followed it up with a Residency in Anesthesiology from the University of South Florida and subsequently, another Residency in Internal Medicine from the Rutgers-NJMS. The acclaimed cardiologist earned his fellowship from the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Cardiology.
Dr. Rivero also has multiple published research papers to his credit in well-respected journals, including Clinical Cardiology, Nuclear Medicine Communications, and Journal of Clinical Ultrasound, among others. He is an accomplished cardiologist with many awards under his belt, including Most Scholarly Resident Award from UMDNJ, Dean’s Recognition Letter from ISCMH, Fujisawa/ASNC Travel Award at the 9th Annual ASNC Scientific Session, and Academic Excellence Award from the Superior Institute of Medical Sciences of Havana, among others.
Dr. Rivero currently offers patient care services to heart disease patients under a Florida State Medical License. He is one of the top cardiology consultants with Citrus Memorial Hospital. The other hospitals that he is associated with are Leesburg Regional Medical Center, and The Villages Regional Hospital.
